I have made jewellery for over 30 years and been interested in textiles for even longer, and exhibited widely. Inspiration has come from living abroad plus natural textures. Now finally settled in Norfolk, the pattern of the local landscape and the local flora and fauna feature strongly in my work.
I love the tactile qualities of both metal and fabric and the feeling of connection with past makers. Many of the tools used have scarcely changed in centuries and re-cycled fabrics are incorporated in the rag rugs and other textiles.
I teach rag rug making from home plus work to commission. Take part in ‘Norfolk Open Studios’ and exhibit through ‘Produced in Norfolk’. Some work is available in local galleries. Available for lectures and workshops on rag rugs. A member of Ragtime and of The International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers.
All are mixed fibres on hessian.
All are hand-made, sterling silver with articulated legs.
