Bette Hopkins

I started painting about fourteen years ago and am still in the process of deciding where my interests best lie. I am torn between the exacting discipline of botanical painting and a wilder, freer style which expresses my love of flowers and the feelings they convey to me. I work mainly in watercolour and mixed media but also in acrylic and oils. I have trained with Ann Blockley, Siriol Sherlock, Caroline Bailey and others.

I have started to experiment more and try out other media to achieve stronger and bolder effects in my work, also doing landscape. Formerly based in the North, I exhibited mainly in Cumbria, Lancashire and North Yorkshire with the Green Door Studios and Lancashire and District Art Society.
