Artist's Statement

My name is Katrine Cousins, but sell under the name Lykkelig Design. I am a textile artist based in the Cambridgeshire fens and grew up in King's Lynn. Being half Danish my business name comes from our family name. Lykkelig means a state of happiness. Creating and making art helps me personally strive for a state of contentment and satisfaction. I am influenced by the nature that surrounds me and especially inspired by my daily wanderings into the fens.

My most recent work uses mixed media to create images based on landmarks of West Norfolk. I am the Membership Secretary for Greyfriars Art Spaces (GAS), and have recently had a joint exhibition at the Custom House called "Time for Tea".

I have a foundation in textiles from Norwich School of Art, a BA Hons and PGCE in film and photography from Sheffield Hallam and an MA in film archiving from the UEA.

As an artist I strive to combine my love of textiles, photography and archiving. My passion is supporting the burgeoning arts culture in King's Lynn and West Norfolk, and being part of GAS and WNAA.
