Lesley Williams studied History of Art before specialising in ceramics and then going on to teach art. She painted in oils for a number of years, but is now more likely to use acrylics, preferring their versatility.
An ever changing garden is a great inspiration and much of the other work is based on seascapes experienced while sailing or walking on the North Norfolk coast.
Some paintings are started on site or later in the studio using sketches, notes of mood and emotion and photographs. Many works simply 'emerge' from an initial underpainting, used to cover the white of the canvas. Something initially planned can turn into the unexpected!
