\"\"<\/a>King\u2019s Lynn Museum is a little gem in the heart of the town, right next to the bus station. If you haven\u2019t yet discovered it you can take advantage of FREE ENTRY from 1st October to 30th March, with a small entry charge in the summer months. Open 10am – 5pm. <\/p>\n

Coming into the museum you are immersed in the area dedicated to \u2018Seahenge\u2019, a large timber circle found on Holme Beach in 1998. Half of the original oak posts are on display, in the positions where they were found. This was a large timber circle, 6.6 metres across with a central stump. \"\"<\/a>It is thought to have been built around 4,000 years ago when the area around today\u2019s Holme Beach would have consisted of salt marshes protected from the sea by sand dunes and mud flats. Over many years a layer of peat built up around and over the timbers, which has protected them from decay. The display is very atmospheric and the surrounding cabinets give a wealth of information about the area, its inhabitants at the time and their way of life.<\/p>\n

In complete contrast to this is a section dedicated to \u2018May The Toys Be With You\u2019 – Star Wars of course, here until 30th May. The rest of this quite tiny museum is full of items relating to the social, maritime and industrial history of King\u2019s Lynn, which makes a fascinating collection.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
