Poppy Field under Changing Sky
Canvas on panel 22 x 18cms.
I use the alla prima method to recreate the elemental power of Nature in paint, adopting rapid and spontaneous brushstrokes to allow an image to emerge.
I attended Southport Art School in the sixties at the tender age of 12. Since then I have been largely self taught, with notable exceptions of teachings from Jeremiah Hoad (Landscape painting) and John Glover (Portraiture). My strongest painterly influences have been Constable, Turner, the sensory and chromatic drama of the Scottish Colourists and the prismatic ‘rainbow’ paintings of Winifred Nicholson.
Chris exhibited a seascape “Stormy Outlook” at the Royal Academy Summer Show in 2022 and has work in private collections in the UK and America. Chris Low lives and works in Norfolk in the UK.
