Art was always my favourite subject at school, although my interest was in drawing rather than painting, and was told by my art teacher, on leaving school I could secure a place at Lewisham college for Art. Sadly I decided to choose a different career path into the Post office as a telephonist.
Later in life my sister encouraged me to attend a weekend watercolour painting class which I thoroughly enjoyed and began taking commissions from my work colleagues. Due to being in full time employment I stopped painting for a long time.
Approximately 5 years ago I was made redundant, so luckily I had time to pick up my brush once again and self taught with lots of research trying different mediums. I stumbled upon a local art group that painted in oils. Not knowing anything about the subject I decided to join and with the help and tuition from an amazing art tutor I managed to produce some pleasing artwork and learnt so much more about the world of art.
I love spending time in my summerhouse and now paint mainly in acrylics and oils, but try occasionally to get out of my comfort zone exploring with different mediums. I love being a part of the WNAA and now have the chance to submit my work into their exhibitions also having the opportunity for the public to see my paintings. I enjoy painting a variety of subjects and have found myself recently exploring with a palette full of colour. If you are interested in a commission painting or would like to view my work you can contact me via my email address on my facebook page.
