Strawberry Fields for Ever
Watercolour on A3 paper
Originally from West London, I have lived in Norfolk for 37 years. While I have always had an interest in art and enjoyed drawing as a child, it was being furloughed during the pandemic that offered me the first opportunity to consider artwork seriously and to enjoy exploring watercolour and acrylic.
Fascinated and inspired with the flora and insects I find in the garden and countryside, this is reflected in my work where I use shapes, strong contrasting colours and patterns that I see in the natural environment.
Recently I was contacted by a craft company based in Doncaster to reproduce my artwork, creating sewing kits and digital downloads for card makers. As I am a self-taught artist, this was a thrill and I spent a nervous but fun day at the company filming promotional content.
At the beginning of 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The solace I have found in my quiet, totally absorbing creative world, has distracted, supported and healed me through a long and challenging period.
