The weather was kind when we visited this exhibition. The setting is magical in the grounds of Bayfield Hall with its sweeping lawns, a great treescape and the lake.
We started in the Natural Surroundings cafe and plant nursery spending longer there than we had intended. Such peaceful surroundings with all the cottage garden and wildflower plant nursery. We ventured into the summerhouse to find some harvest mice scampering around their enclosure. Hard to believe that such small creatures can survive in the wild.
On to the Sculpture trail. Meandering round the woodland, lawns, ruined chapel and skirting the tennis court with our numbered map, it was easy to catch a glimpse of something intriguing and go off piste.
It was lovely to see WNAA represented by Esther Boehm’s whimsical white branches and Helen Breach channelling Auntie Rosemary.

There were opportunities to interact, tipping ball bearings over a series of saw blades, adding to a written story, cautiously opening a shed door or search for a Jackalope.
Some exhibits are beautiful, Jean Kiekopf’s “Craning Cranes’ evoke a sense of calm with nature, and others are thought provoking such as Jane Ironside’s “Hot Air”
It’s well worth a visit.
