Port-2-Port

Kate Giles Now I

Port-2-Port is a pair of connected art exhibitions that forge new cultural links between what were once two great ports. In medieval times the two port towns of Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn were major players in English seaborne trade, the former broadly facing the Low Countries and also focused on fishing, the latter facing the Hanseatic League ports in the Baltic and with onward trade routes inland. Sadly both towns have steadily declined as ports for both trade and fishing and both now have areas of deprivation and poverty. We want to
focus attention on these two beautiful and historic ports, and to build on and celebrate their cultural strengths by exchanging artworks from one end of Norfolk with artworks from the other, exhibiting five artists in galleries in each other’s port and re-connecting them across a surprising distance: Norfolk is a very large county.

In King’s Lynn, the five artists, from Great Yarmouth, who exhibited at the Fermoy Gallery and the Red Barn were Katarzyna https://lexapronorx.com Coleman, Bridget Heriz, John Kiki, Emrys Parry and Brüer Tidman. The curators were Keith Roberts and Selwyn Taylor, both ncas trustees.

In Great Yarmouth, the twin exhibition will be shown in The Fisher Patterson
Galleries in the main Yarmouth Library. The selected artists from West Norfolk
are Esther Boehm, Kate Giles, Lee Grandjean, Chloe Mandy and Stephen
Parry. The curators are Caroline Fisher and Chris Mardell, both ncas trustees.
Norfolk Contemporary Art Society has been promoting contemporary art in
the region for over 60 years and in addition to helping purchase works for
public collections they organise a rich programme of events, talks and
exhibitions. More details of our programme and how to join us can be found
