RHYTHMS — Links & Layers

1-11 October 2020
Handa Gallery, Wells Maltings

Links & Layers is a group of eight individuals, all living and working in Norfolk. Formed in 2014, our regular meetings mutually encourage, support and motivate each other’s creative development. Through collaborative practice we learn and enrich our work whilst having fun and laughter together. We are committed to our art and keen to share it with others through exhibitions, dialogue and workshops.

Disciplines represented include painting, drawing, glasswork, printmaking, sculpture, and textiles, including contemporary stitch, lacemaking and felt-making. Interest in textiles is common to all, but we use our own skills and experiences to develop this in different ways.

In planning this exhibition, we followed our preference for a title that enables us to develop our interests and ideas freely. ‘Rhythms’ was chosen as it encompasses so many https://buyingventolininhaler.com aspects of life, time and environment. Little did we know that those usual patterns and norms would soon be disrupted by unprecedented events.

Unable to meet as usual, we have found ways to address the challenge and undoubtedly found comfort in and through our art. Process has prevailed, through the rhythmic nature of contemplative stitch, the repetitive action of mark making on paper or cloth, and sustained manipulation of lace bobbins, fibre and structure. The creative processes of our minds have lifted us away from the confines of our common situation, provided solace in isolation and led us along paths that we may not otherwise have taken.

Open daily 11am-4pm
