‘Gilbert and Sullivan were here, Thumbing’

My artistic journey, like many has been long and varied, I don’t remember when I first picked up a brush, for a long time I painted the usual subjects, landscapes and seascapes but never felt entirely satisfied, I had always studied art and been interested in the European and American modernists, then in 2013 our youngest daughter died, this altered my course entirely and I started doing abstract work and have not really deviated since then, I started experimenting with different mediums and found that Ink was the thing for me. I rarely have a clue as to where I am going before I start although I often have a title in mind, I prefer to let the picture evolve on the canvas, I usually have music playing in the studio and this is often reflected in the work. I love the fact that abstract art lets the viewer interpret the picture in their own way and they can read any meaning into it that suits them. I am not into political art as I want what I produce to enhance the room or environment in witch it ends up.
