pop up exhibition at Chequer House Gallery
14 April to 11 May
I love playing with a gelli plate, creating countless different patterns with a mixture of both fresh and dried greenery and using found objects to create variation and texture. I can build up a significant pile of papers – what to do with them? There are only so many greeting cards you can create.
Inspired by other artists, I have experimented with different weights of paper, including wet strength tissue, maruishi and abaca paper to create abstract collages. When glued or wet, this type of paper becomes transparent allowing the viewer hints of what lies beneath.
The creations in my pop up are a combination of scrap paper, magazines, and gelli plated images, with added acrylic, stencils and pens, adhered to.
