Drawing has been my greatest passion from a young age. I achieve a great deal of self-worth and enjoyment from drawing.
My usual way of working has been to create detailed pencil drawings, but recently I have decided to try a less labor-intensive approach, focusing more on mark making and colour than tiny detail. A trip around Scotland last summer inspired this new approach. As my usual subject matter of old ruins, abbeys and churches were absent, I was faced with the challenge of how to draw such a vast landscape. Soft pastel drawings and mark making in colour pencil has been the way I have approached this, describing the landscape in lines and broad marks to show its form. I am looking forward to exhibiting these pieces soon.

I am still continuing with the very detailed work, currently producing another Whitby Abbey piece, which will probably take several months to complete!
