Naked Norfolk New Gallery

5. Le Strange Terrace, Hunstanton

Opening exhibition May 2nd
12 noon -7pm.

A new venture in an old coal shed.
Naked Norfolk at the The Coal Shed Gallery

Featuring several WNAA artists and some new surprising talent.

The Coal Shed Gallery in Hunstanton returns to its former glory as an art gallery! ‘A right little treasure trove of Norfolk talent!’

Located along Le Strange Terrace in Hunstanton, the Coal Shed Gallery is part of the original railway site which ran from the seaside resort of Hunstanton to the nearby town of King’s Lynn. Following investment from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk (BCKLWN) in 2008 and support from the Hunstanton and District Civic Society (HDCS), the once derelict building was beautifully converted into an art gallery.

The new tenant of the Coal Shed Gallery, Jacqueline Kitch who ran the art gallery and shop in Westgate, Hunstanton up until the national lockdown in December 2020 says she is “absolutely thrilled to be moving into this beautiful building. My Husband and I love the building and we always make a bee line for it on our walks. I could not believe my luck when I walked past and saw that the building was empty and after making enquiries through the Borough Council and through the Civic Society, I managed to secure a lease. I have lots of local Artists and Artisans coming on board along with some of the old favourites that were previously in the gallery and shop and on the website.

The lockdown has been tough on lots of local businesses and at one time I was ready to just give up but now the Coal Shed Gallery door has opened and I am going to jump straight through it!”

Quote from HDCS ” Hunstanton and District Civic Society is delighted that this iconic building will finally be put to good use. We believe that the art gallery and retail offer will enhance the area and bring vibrancy to Le Strange Terrace”.

NakedNorfolk @The Coal Shed Gallery opens its doors on Sunday 2nd May at noonand asks that customers remain Covid aware and follow the Covid guidelines at all times.

The Garage Studio relaunches in the community of Ringstead

The Garage Studio

44 Docking Road, Ringstead, PE36 5LA
Open Thursday to Sunday 1.00pm – 5.00pm

Hanneke Robson and her husband Derek moved to the village of Ringstead in 2018 after several years of living ‘on the move’ in a motorhome. Passionate about bringing the natural landscape back to rural England they embarked on a project to rewild an acre of land along Peddars Way South, near their home in Ringstead. To pay for this scheme, Hanneke had another project in mind, to open a small gallery in the village, showing both her own work as an artist and photographer and the work of other local artists. Barbara King Exhibition

Me working on one of the paintings NORFOLK HEDGEROWS

NORFOLK HEDGEROWS
Paintings of Wild Flowers by Barbara King at the Creake Abbey Café
14th April to 12th September 2021
At last! One year late almost to the day, my exhibition climbed onto the walls at the Creake Abbey Café, North Creake. (www.creakeabbey.co.uk).I had spent the preceding months planning a layout which would create a bright, colourful and uplifting display, and working on the paintings some of which had to be large enough to take on that enormous south wall where they are hung way up high. SOLO ART EXHIBITION

12-17 APRIL 2021, West Acre Gallery

My first solo exhibition will take place at West Acre gallery 12th – 17th April 2021.

This week-long showcase will include a diverse portfolio of my oil paintings, pastel works and linocuts.

I’m a versatile local artist who can work in many mediums, although my main preference would be oils and pastels.

I’m constantly developing and experimenting with new skills, so my portfolio is full of diversity and subjects – there is sure to be something for everyone.

If I were to say I had a style I would say somewhere in the middle of realism and impressionism, depending on the subject matter. I also enjoy doing hand finished and hand printed limited-edition reduction linocuts, as this allows me to offer original art at a reasonable price and tackle yet another side to creative art making.

Not only an artist and teacher creating original paintings, I also work closely with clients on commission pieces to create either that ‘wow factor’ statement piece, a portrait or just a memory that is special to them.

The exhibition will have framed original paintings, browsers full of mounted original art, a selection of limited-edition reduction linocut prints and a huge selection of individual quality embossed gift cards depicting my artwork.

My exhibition will be 10am-4.30pm, 12-17 April, 2021, at West Acre Gallery.

Naked in Norfolk – A new gallery in Hunstanton

Affordable Art, Crafts, Photography and Quirky Goods.

‘Due to the insecure times that local businesses are having with Covid restrictions, I have decided not to renew the lease on my shop which is due to expire on the 31st March.

I have a new website and I am selling online from the new ‘NakedNorfolk’ website https://nakednorfolk.co.uk

When restrictions are lifted I will be seen at pop up markets, craft fairs and possibly at a fixed location. I will also be advertising with the Town and Around free, local newspaper so if you are interested in promoting your work then please email me at Jacqueline@nakednorfolk.co.uk.

Also as from the 1st April, my commission fee will reduce to 20% for all WNAA members. Be safe and stay safe, Jacqueline’.

Naked in Norfolk opened its doors on the 1st October 2020. It quickly locked them again on the 4th November due to the Covid 19 lockdown!

A small gallery and shop which promotes the work of some of Norfolk’s Artists, Photographers and Crafts People, it is the idea of local budding artist and photographer, WNAA member, Jacqueline Kitch.
It has been described as ‘a right little treasure trove of Norfolk talent’ by one customer!

The name derived from ‘Norfolk with the naked eye’ and it should not be mistaken for other local ‘hobbies’ in Norfolk. Be aware when you Google it!

Jacqueline realised that there was a potential for an ‘affordable’ art gallery / shop in the town of Hunstanton. There just happened to be a shop for rent at a decent price, so Jacqueline jumped at the chance and paid the rent for 6 months as a trial run.
The price range was originally from £1 to £100.00 but a new price range from £100 to £250 will be available in December.
Although located just off the High Street, Jacqueline has sold 44 pieces of work in the first month of opening.
‘It has been a great first month and the response from customers and locals has been amazing. I have had so much great feedback and people pop in for a chat and tell me that this is just what Hunstanton has needed for a long time. I love being able to talk about the art and the artist to the customer and I love the response that I get when I tell an artist that I have sold an item of their hard work.

I have a Facebook page and an online website which is just a browser at the moment, but I am looking into setting this up so that customers can purchase online.

I have sold many pieces of work from some of the artists in the WNAA.

Naked reopens on 3rd December with even more artists, photographers and crafts people on board. Due to the lack of wall space Jacqueline will also have an electronic visual display showing other pieces of art that are not on show.

Opening times are:
Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm
Sunday 10am to 4pm
